Most of all we would like to welcome our Chinese visitors who make up the bulk of our visits. China, after all was one of the first countries to study the sun seriously and invented the first lunisolar calendar.
Most amazing of all China built a giant solar telescope in Gaocheng. This site was established in 1279 AD by the famous astronomer Guo Shoujing. It is the oldest of 27 ancient observatories in China. Built with bricks and stone, the building has two parts, the platform and the stone Chinese sundial.
